Who is MARE
(pronunciation: mar)
The Marion Alliance for Racial Equity (known as MARE) was formed June 2020, as a result of a growing urgency for our community to address racial inequities and injustices.
We exist to elevate the voices and experiences of people of color in Marion, IA.
We also aim to create spaces and a culture in Marion, IA that is welcoming and inclusive for all people.
Our Mission
The Marion Alliance for Racial Equity is a community-based organization made up of a diverse group of individuals who live, work, or visit Marion. We are actively working to identify and dismantle oppressive systems, amplify the voices of people of color, and honor their experiences.
Our Vision
Marion will be a welcoming, just, and racially diverse city where all people of color feel a sense of belonging and thrive.

Juneteenth Celebration
Find the MARE booth at the Juneteenth Celebration for games and fun!

The African American Museum of Art (AAMI) is putting together another highly anticipated festival which will include: live music and performances, local nonprofit and business organizations, food and merchandise vendors, and family-friendly activities!

Where: Lowe Park Amphitheater, Marion
Time: 11am to 5pm
What: Cultural Performances - Celebrate Your Culture and Meet Others Who Share Similar backgrounds, keeping those traditions alive for future generations!
Wellness - Learn techniques to improve your health, including nutrition and exercise.
Education - Learn about the Diversity that makes our community Unique.
Visit and shop at local vendors, including food trucks.
This event is for the entire family with plenty of activities for the little ones to have fun!
