Who is MARE

The Marion Alliance for Racial Equity (known as MARE) was formed June 2020, as a result of a growing urgency for our community to address racial inequities and injustices.
We exist to elevate the voices and experiences of people of color in Marion, IA.
We also aim to create spaces and a culture in Marion, IA that is welcoming and inclusive for all people.
Our Mission
The Marion Alliance for Racial Equity is a community-based organization made up of a diverse group of individuals who live, work, or visit Marion. We are actively working to identify and dismantle oppressive systems, amplify the voices of people of color, and honor their experiences.
Our Vision
Marion will be a welcoming, just, and racially diverse city where all people of color feel a sense of belonging and thrive.
